Reports to: MANAGER’S TITLE Position SummaryThe Engineer III, Process, designs and implements plant improvement projects for the Methanol and Air Separation (ASU) plants.  The incumbent ensures timely evaluations and monitoring of plant equipment/systems while making recommendations to optimize plant performance.  The Engineer III, Process provides guidance to Technical, Operations and Maintenance Department staff to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.


Responsibilities
  • Monitors Plant Processes and utilities inclusive of equipment/systems and catalyst evaluations.
  • Provides technical support to plant optimization identifying opportunities for improved plant efficiency, production and reliability.
  • Provides support and leads review, troubleshooting and optimization of plant and equipment.
  • Key liaison between the Technical and Operations departments.
  • Develops and implements all plant improvement projects which involves engineering calculations, hazard analyses and monitoring after implementation.
  • Participates and leads risk assessments in accordance with the organization’s risk management framework.
  • Support Management of Change projects with engineering studies, estimates, PFD development, P&ID development, equipment specification, vendor/contractor review, commissioning and start-up.
  • Provides process engineering support for Turnaround activities e.g. catalyst changeouts, chemical cleaning of equipment etc.
  • Provides process engineering support for non-routine plant operations inclusive of plant start-up and shutdowns.
  • Participates and leads investigations for determining root cause and troubleshooting of plant issues.
  • Develops procedures for special plant testing and monitoring. 
  • Provides technical support to the development of Operating Procedures by Operations.

Qualifications
  • B.Sc. Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering
Experience
  • A minimum of six 6-9 years’ work experience in Process Engineering
  • Familiarity with Piping and Process Plant Equipment
